Volunteers play an important role in the operations of the New-York Historical Society. Volunteers work in a variety of departments including Education, Public Programs, Museum, Library and Development. We seek a diverse group of volunteers who can apply their skills, interests and experiences to a wide range of short-term and project-specific assignments. Long-term and on-going assignments are also available. To inquire about volunteering, send an e-mail to volunteers.info@nyhistory.org indicating your area of interest and attach your resume. If your skills and qualifications match our needs we will contact you; if not, we will keep your information on file and contact you if an appropriate position becomes available. Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the New-York Historical Society.

Volunteers Needed for Community Liaison Team

The New-York Historical Society is seeking volunteers to visit Upper West Side businesses near the Society three times a year to deliver materials promoting exhibitions and events. Each volunteer will be responsible for approximately 10-12 businesses near each other. Materials will be in an envelope to be delivered to each business. Volunteers will be asked to get a business card from each location and write a brief note about their visit on a form. Training will be provided.

Visits normally take place in March, May/June, and October. Visits take 10-15 minutes per business.

Training will take place on Wednesday, February 11 (1pm to 3pm) at the New-York Historical Society.
