Education
Discover dynamic education programs and curriculum resources about the history of our city, state, and nation.
New-York Historical Society offers teacher professional development workshops for districts, schools, and groups seeking a customized experience via remote or in-person instruction.
While our focus is American history, we have extensive experience working with educators and administrators across a variety of academic subjects, including social studies, humanities, English language arts (ELA), civics, digital humanities, and more. Our workshops emphasize both inquiry-based instruction and culturally responsive practices that create opportunities for students to directly interact with primary source images, documents, and objects from the past.
The New-York Historical Society is an NYSED-approved CTLE sponsor. Participation in teacher professional development workshops and online PD for teachers is applicable towards maintaining professional certification from the New York City Department of Education.
